The Last King Of Scotland, Babel and Volver are among the line-up at the inaugural Dominican Republic Global Film Festival, which runs from Nov 8-12.

The roster includes Water, Cronica De Una Fuga, An Inconvenient Truth, Mad Hot Ballroom, and The Lost City.

The festival whose focus is global issues and personal stories, is held under the auspices of the Dominican Republic President Leonel Fernandez' charitable foundation, FUNGLODE (The Foundation For Global Democracy And Development).

"The Global Film Festival will present an eclectic program of dramatic and documentary films with a broad range of esthetic treatment and point of view," Nicole Guillemet, who co-launched the festival with FUNGLODE executive director Natasha Despotovic, said.

"The mission of the festival is both to entertain and to showcase films with a conscience: films which enhance awareness of social problems and promote constructive, democratic change or a change in the way one views the word and lives one's life."

Guillemet worked at the Sundance Institute for more than 15 years and for the last four years she served as director of the Miami International Film Festival
