Three Films Shown in the III Dominican Global Film Festival Nominated for Golden Globes

Actor Michael Madsen arrived on Saturday November 14th to attend the III Dominican Global Film Festival as a specially invited guest. Known for his role in “Kill Bill,” “Reservoir Dogs,” and “Sin City” among many other films, Madsen is one of the numerous celebrities who will be attending this star-studded event.

(Santo Domingo, November 15, 2009) – Organizers of the III Dominican Global Film Festival announced the arrival of well-known actor and special guest Michael Madsen. The movie star arrived in Santo Domingo with a group of film executives from Hollywood.

Susan Hershey, John Mark Sjogren and Suzanne Ghersi are part of the Hollywood group along with Dominican producers Elías Acosta and Samuel Toribio.

In his first visit to the Dominican Republic, Madsen will walk the red carpet together with other international movie stars and celebrities who will be arriving shortly for this film extravaganza.

Madsen was greeted by the Omar de la Cruz, Technical Director of Production and Promotion of the Film Festival which is being organized by the Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo and its sister organization in the United States, the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development.

On Sunday November 15th, Madsen will be in Cap Cana, the tourist destination turned gathering place for world film stars, where he will surely cross paths with Omar Sharif among other celebrities attending the Festival.

Madsen’s Career
Madsen, whose filmography includes more than 100 pictures, began his career with “War Games” in 1983. In 1993 and 1995, he played the role of one of the fathers in “Free Willy” and “Free Willy 2.”

His first big role in film came in 1992 when Quentin Tarantino asked him to take a part in “Reservoir Dogs,” an independent film with Steve Buscemi, Harvey Keitel and Tim Roth, among others. Despite being an independent production, the film was a huge success and soon became a classic.

In 1997, Madsen had another major film breakthrough in “Donnie Brasco,” a movie based on a true story. Working alongside Al Pacino and Johnny Depp, Madsen’s role as Sonny Black earned him an Oscar nomination.

In 2001, he participated in a Michael Jackson music video called “You Rock My World.” Madsen’s voice is heard in Grand Theft Auto III and “The Chronicles of Narnia” in which he lent his voice to the role of the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. In the Reservoir Dogs videogame (released in September 2006), he did the voice of Mr. Rubio and the English voice over for the Japanese video game Yakuza.
