The films shown at the recent III Dominican Global Film Festival nominated for the prestigious Golden Global Awards include“"La Nana", “Broken Embraces” and “500 Days of Summer.”

The quality of films shown at the III Dominican Global Film Festival was confirmed with the publication of the 67th Annual Golden Globe Award nominees for this year as they include three films shows this past November in the Dominican Republic.

The nominated films, which formed part of the Festival's 30 entries, include “The Maid,” “Broken Embraces” and “500 Days of Summer.”

500 Days of Summer” shown at the Festival under its Spanish name “500 Días con Ella,” received nominations in the category of Best Comedy or Musical and best actor in a Comedy or Musical.  The film's protagonist, Joseph J Gordon-Levitt, was nominated for best actor in a comedy or musical.

The Spanish Broken Embraces” and the Chilean “The Maid” were nominated in the Best Foreign Language film category. Others also nominated in this category include the German film “The White Ribbon,” “Baaria” from Italy and “A Prophet” from France.

Other nominees for Best Comedy or Musical along with “500 Days of Summer” include “What Happened Yesterday,” “It's Complicated” “Julie & Julia” and “Nine”.

Since its first edition, the Dominican Global Film Festival has been offering the Dominican public high quality, national and international films, many of  which have won the most prestigious film prizes in the world.

The organizing committee of the Festival is already working on the next Festival which will be held from Wednesday November 16 until Sunday November 21, 2010.
