Trailers Should Leave the Audience Wanting More

Producer and creative Marty Wall showed some trailers as examples of how to make them for film productions.

(Santo Domingo, Nov 17, 2012). “The best thing about movies are their trailers because it is here where you should see the best of the best,” said Marty Wall, executive producer and director of LA-based M. Wall Associates.

At the panel, “The Importance of the Trailer, Promos and Openings as Tools for Positioning your Brand,” Wall explained that creativity is essential to position your brand and express the reasons why yours is the best while capturing the attention of your audience and always leaving them wanting more.

Wall gave his panel, part of a series of panels and workshops offered by the 6th edition of the Dominican Global Film Festival (FCGD), at the Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA).

In addition to talking about the creation of trailers and promos, Wall screened several trailers as examples of how they are done.

He said one of the most important elements of making a good trailer or promo is to engage the audience or buyers in something they can identify with and to make your reasons for seeing or buying a film convincing. “A film can live or die in a word. For that reason, think before you talk,” said Wall.

He ended his panel saying, “The best way to sell or tell a story is to leave the audience wanting more” so they will go out and see the film or buy what you’re selling.

The panel series offered by the FCGD are given by experts in the national and international film industry with the goal of providing consultancy and knowledge to students as well as professionals in this field.
