Dulce García Pereyra and Anapaula Gómez González Win Opportunity to Participate at Cannes Young Marketers Competition

The selection took place on Tuesday May 17th when their outstanding work topped the other 63 contestants.

El DRGFF celebra nominaciones de 127 horasDulce Josefina García Pereyra and Anapaula Gómez González were selected to participate in the Young Marketers Competition of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. García and Gómez will have the opportunity to represent the Dominican Republic at this important competition while expanding their own creativity in the area of marketing technology.

With support from the Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI), the two young women will travel to Cannes with all expenses paid including lodging. Each entrant who competed in this contest had to present a marketing plan for the upcoming 5th Dominican Republic Global Film Festival to be held from November 15 to 20, 2011.

Sixty three projects entered the contest, out of which eight were chosen as finalists and two received the final prize. The selection was carried out at the French Embassy on Tuesday May 17th.

The selecting jury was comprised of Roland Dubertrand, French Ambassador to the Dominican Republic; Taina Rodríguez, of the GMAI; Carlos Suárez and Johanna Peguero, representatives of the Cannes Lions; Mónika Despradel, of Orange; Patricia Hernández, of Listín Diario newspaper; Leonor Asilis, of Grupo Metro; Rodolfo Borrell, of Pagés; Amilcar Kalaf, of Cazar and Virginia Perdomo, de Krispy Creme (winner of the 2010 competition and 2010 Gold Medal winner of Cannes Young Marketers).

The Dominican Global Film Festival, in coordination with the Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI), seeks to attract resources that enable it to develop a work plan that will benefit and promote the development of the Dominican film industry.

The Global Media Arts Institute is a premier educational center devoted to initiating young talent as well as training seasoned professionals. Throughout the year, the GMAI regularly offers introductory, intermediate and advanced courses. It also organizes cultural activities that promote a better understanding of the audiovisual arts with film screenings, panel discussions, conferences hosting actors and technicians, among other events.
