Dominican Republic Global Film Festival Opens Call for Entries for Third Short Film Competition

Submissions for the 3rd Short Film Competition will be open from July 2 to September 15, 2011. Categories in the competition, open exclusively to Dominicans, include fiction, animation, documentary and fantasy.

The Dominican Republic Global Film Festival (DRGFF) is inviting contestants to enter their films up until the 15th of September for the pre-selection process where they will be judged according to the established guidelines.

Once the application is received and the information is verified as correct, the DRGFF will confirm, by email, reception and acceptance of all applications. In the case that your application has not been accepted, the corresponding DRGFF committee will send an email explaining the reasons for the decision.

Dominicans over the age of 18 years are eligible to participate. Eleven finalists will be selected to compete for three winning places. The three winners will be announced on the closing night of the 5th edition of the DRGFF on November 20, 2011.

While the director of the short film entries must be of Dominican nationality, the shooting of the film can be done anywhere in the world as long as 70% of the actors are Dominican.

The film must have been made sometime during 2010-2011 in DVCAM or MINIDV formats.
The short films must be at least 15 minutes long, including the credits. They can be color or black and white. If the original language of the short film is not Spanish, they must contain subtitles in Spanish.
Film entries sent for consideration to the pre-selection process will not be returned to the owners and participants waive the right to seek their retrieval.

The DRGFF assumes no financial responsibility or costs connected to the entries being sent to participate in the competition. Participation in the 3rd Short Film Competition implies that individuals have understood and accepted the rules and guidelines of the contest.

Confirmation of reception of participants’ film entries will take at least one week. If a participant has not received any communication from DRGFF within one week, he/she should communicate by email to cortos@funglodemultimedia.org or by telephone: 809-685-9966 Ext. 2110.

The selection process will be carried out by a jury of national and international film professionals
